This maroon references back to the red that predominates TSMC's color identity. Red held a prominent position in the old logo and the brand's identity as a whole. By switching to a more muted tone the logo gives off a classier more confident tone. TSMC has already proven its worth in the industry so there is no need for such a loud tone of red.
